Sponsoring a Young Bonpo Monk’s Higher Education
Project
Beginning in 2003, Yuan Yuan initiated a fundraising drive to generate
financial support for the higher education of the young monks at the
Dialectic School of the Menri Monastery of the Tibetan Bon lineage. We
deeply appreciate the many kind hearts who joined Yuan Yuan in
sponsorship of 23 young Bonpo monks
the first year. Thank you!
As we concluded the year 2004, sponsorship more than doubled since
2003 to provide higher education for 47
monks! We are happy to note another rise in 2005, the total
numbers of Bonpo monks sponsored through our kind donors has reached
55 now.
We are continuing our commitment to support the education of many more
young Bonpo monks in years to come. For the year of 2006, our
projected goal is to gain more sponsors so that we can surpass 2005's
sponsorship to allow many more young Bonpo monks a chance to meet
their educational goals. These future young graduates will become the
best learned Geshe (a degree equal to a Ph.D degree) whom will have
the discipline, the knowledge, and the spiritual attainment to carry
the torch in spreading the Bon teachings - a religion regarded as one
of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist traditions on earth.
